Hold on to Your Hats

Sorry it's been so long since my last post. We had family in town, our three-year-old's birthday, and I have actually been doing more freelance work these days. So just busy times.

BOOKS: We read one of my old favorites, Caps for Sale by Esphyr Slobodkina, and the kids just loved the naughty monkey business. It's such a fun book to read aloud and even to act out. We also enjoyed reading the lift-the-flap book, Who's Under That Hat? by David A. Carter.ACTIVITY: Newspaper Hats -- We never tried this classic project before, but my 14 month-old thought it was great fun, and it's always nice to find an activity that will appeal to his age.

So all we needed was a small section of newspaper. I folded it in half, and then folded down each top side to make triangles. I then taped the triangle to stay put. Then I just folded the bottom flaps up on both sides and tapped them down.My little guy then got busy with washable markers, and he we had a pretty hat!
