Mother's Day Bookmarks

Seeing as though I come from a long line of women who are voracious readers, I thought bookmarks would be great gifts for the kids to make this year. It was a fun activity, and I know the special moms in our lives will be happy with them, too.

BOOKS:
All of the Mother's Day books that we read recently have a very similar theme -- a young character seeking the perfect present for his mother, only to discover simple things such as hugs, kisses, and songs are the things that mom treasures. These charming stories include: A Present for Mom by Vivian French, The Mother's Day Mice by Eve Bunting, and T Rex and the Mother's Day Hug by Lois G. Grambling.

ACTIVITY: Bookmarks for Mom
If your kids are like mine, they are pretty happy with an activity that includes glue and stickers. We were planning to make bookmarks this year, and then I happened to come across a pack of foam bookmarks in the craft section of our dollar store that were perfect (and saved me time). I cut out photos of each of the boys, and they glued them to one side of the bookmark. And on the other side, the boys decorated with assorted foam stickers. They were so happy with the bookmarks that they wanted to make more and more for all the mamas on our street.
